Massage – Where does it hurt and how (including what is a knot)?

Stagnant blood could currently be stored in your tissues, and releasing it through massages, stretching, or deep breathing (using your diaphragm) are good ways to allow new blood to get through.

Not everybody will bruise and telling your therapist what your pain tolerance is, will indicate the level of pressure needed to break down the knots. It feels like a burning sensation when pressure is applied to the knot, and this will reduce as the knot starts to dissipate.

Knots cause pain, discomfort and dysfunction in muscles and the surrounding tissues. Regular massage breaks down these knits and prevents them from forming again and increasing in size over time! Discomfort can be felt because of the pressure applied.

IMPORTANT!

A registered Allied Health Professional Massage Therapist will never cause unnecessary damage to a muscle and is specifically trained in the treatment and healing of Therapeutic Conditions.
